The singer Elián Valenzuela, known as L-Gante, has been acquitted of the crime of unlawful deprivation of liberty, although he was sentenced to three years of probation for threats. After nearly 100 days in detention due to a complaint filed by residents of General Rodríguez, Valenzuela expressed his desire to prove his innocence and announced his intention to start secondary studies and then pursue a law degree.
The prosecution, represented by lawyers Darío Gastón Torres, Rosa Passi, and other plaintiffs, had requested eight and three years of prison for the Cumbia 420 singer. Despite the uncertainty, Valenzuela stated that he remained calm and unafraid during the legal process.
Judge Ignacio Raca imposed a series of obligations on L-Gante, including establishing residency, submitting to the Patronage of Released, refraining from contacting the complainants and their families, informing the court about foreign travel, and making donations to charitable organizations in General Rodríguez.
Upon learning of the verdict, Valenzuela stated that he needed to focus on himself and temporarily step away from his artistic persona as L-Gante to bring calm to his loved ones. Citing a family member, he expressed his desire to prove his innocence and accepted the responsibility that comes with any kind of power.
In a peculiar gesture to celebrate his situation, L-Gante exited his vehicle through the roof throwing thousand-peso bills into the air, while holding a flare and his followers rushed to collect the money.
